European Studies First Article Prize
Call for Nominations:
Nominations for the Council for European Studies' inaugural European Studies First Article Prize are due this coming Monday, April 2, 2012.
The Council for European Studies (CES) is proud to be honoring the early efforts of our most promising young scholars. To this end, we have convened a multi-disciplinary First Article Prize Committee to award two prizes to outstanding scholars, one working in the humanities and one in the social sciences, for the best first articles published in a two-year period. Each prize winner will receive $500 and public recognition in Council publications and on our website.
So, please take a few minutes right now to nominate a graduate student or junior colleague who may be eligible. Eligibility for this prize is restricted to articles published in the last two years, and so you don't want to procrastinate. Failure to nominate now will effectively disqualify many very promising candidates.
To nominate an exceptional article in the field of European Studies, complete the CES First Article Prize Nomination form. For more information about the prize and more details about the Committee’s definitions of “humanities” and “social sciences,” visit www.councilforeuropeanstudies.org.
Most of all, please act soon! The submission period is now open, but closes next week on April 2. So now is the time to formally nominate a colleague, student, friend, or yourself, and to urge your colleagues to do likewise.
If you have any questions about this prize or the Council for European Studies, please don't hesitate to contact CES at ces@columbia.edu.
