IPSA Madrid 2012 Leadership in Action: Leading out besieged democracies into a different ball game

http://www.ipsa.org/my-ipsa/events/madrid2012/panel/leadership-action-leading-out-besieged-democracies-different-ball-ga

Su resumen es el siguiente:

“The age old chinese admonition "may you live in interesting times" has fallen on us instauring the radical questioning of some deep- seated values. Such is the predicament of the contemporary crisis (labeled by different scholars as crisis of representative democracy, crisis of legitimation, crisis of State and public values, crisis of civilization, and so on) involving both the risks of serious societal setbacks and the opportunities of moving on to a new paradigm, better equipped to tackle the new complexities. In such a context, a re-evaluation of leadership is in order.

The panel will discuss the challenges of "public" leadership, both political and civic-society leadership, in the context of transformations of democracies and the pressures they are facing due to global economic crisis. We call for papers that focus on case or comparative studies about leadership from an empirical perspective; and for theoretical and methodological ones that improve scientific research about leadership. Finally, we request normative papers that exhibit creative leadership models and styles for the future.

As an non-exhausting indication, the papers may be related to one or more of the following topics: a) leadership in governance structures and networks; b) personal equation, leadership skills and behaviors; c) leadership models and styles; d) leadership in electoral scenarios; e) leadership in political parties, interest groups and social movements; f) leadership in times of crisis”
