IPSA’S 75th ANNIVERSARY CONFERENCE EXPLORED

CHALLENGES AND NEW DIRECTIONS IN MULTI-LEVEL GOVERNANCE

To highlight its 75th anniversary celebrations in 2024, IPSA held an international conference on Challenges and New Directions in Multi-Level Governance from 25-26 April 2024 in Montréal, Canada. The two-day event saw more than 100 scholars, government and city officials worldwide discuss a wide range of topics related to multi-level governance. IPSA PRESIDENT AND PRESIDENT-ELECT LED TWO ROUNDTABLE DISCUSSIONS

The conference featured two roundtables that facilitated an engaging dialogue on challenges and new directions in multi-level governance. On 25 April, participants gathered for the Practitioners' Roundtable on Challenges and New Directions in Multi-Level Governance, led by IPSA President Pablo Oñate. On 26 April, the Academics' Roundtable on Challenges and New Directions in Multi-Level Governance took center stage, chaired by IPSA President-Elect Yuko Kasuya.

CALL FOR IPSA PRESIDENT-ELECT

Application deadline: 15 July 2024

In accordance with its Rules and Procedures, IPSA invites applications for the position of President-Elect. If elected, the candidate will serve a two-year mandate as President-Elect from 2025 to 2027 and as President from 2027 to 2029. The deadline to submit the application is 15 July 2024.

Registration for the Democratization and Autocratization Conference is open. We invite all paper presenters, chairs, and discussants to register by 3 July to remain in the program.

ADAM PRZEWORSKI NAMED KEYNOTE SPEAKER AT IPSA'S 75th ANNIVERSARY CONFERENCE IN LISBON

IPSA is pleased to announce that Adam Przeworski will serve as keynote speaker at the Democratization and Autocratization Conference in Lisbon on 11-13 September 2024.

Prof. Przeworski will address conference delegates on 11 September with his keynote presentation titled Studying Democracy. Details of his presentation will be available soon on the conference website.

IPSA AT MONTRÉAL'S INTERNATIONAL ORGANIZATIONS DAY

IPSA participated in the 8th edition of the Journée des Organisations Internationales (International Organizations Day), organized by Connexion Internationale de Montréal (CIMtl), on 16 May. The event featured three panels with experts from various fields who provided insights into the innovative strategies adopted by international organizations. IPSA staff represented IPSA at the event to promote IPSA's wide range of activities, educational programs and publications.

IPSA RESEARCH COMMITTEES COLLOQUIUM: CHALLENGES OF PLURAL SOCIETIES

The IPSA Research Committee (RC14) on Politics and Ethnicity, in collaboration with RC23-Elections, Citizens and Parties, RC28-Comparative Federalism and Multilevel Governance, RC50-The Politics of Language, RC53- Indigenous Politics and the ECPR Standing Group on Identity, will present the latest edition of its annual colloquium on the theme Challenges of Plural Societies in Chișinău, Moldova on 28-31 May 2024.
