2. Every three or four years since 1999, Chapel Hill has conducted surveys to analyze how national parties in diverse European countries position themselves on European integration, ideology and priority political issues. The number of countries and parties included in the database has increased significantly over the years. Countries have doubled in number, from 14 in Western Europe in the first wave, to 24 in the third in 2006, and reaching 31 in the latest 2014 survey. Parties have also increased from 143 in 1999 to 268 in 2014. Reports and data are available on the website.

 

3. Founded in 2004, the Global Barometer Survey coordinates five regional barometers: The Afrobarometer for Africa, the Asian Barometer for Asia and South East Asia, the Latinobarómetro for America Central and South America, the Arab Barometer for the Middle East and Eurasia Barometer for the countries of the former Soviet Union. The complex operation has the main goal of improving data comparability, starting with the elaboration of a common agenda and the pursuit of standardization of the methodology. The starting point is the questionnaires, inspired by the rigour of the translation and the safeguarding of regional specificities regarding the proposed items.
