The 2025 edition marks a historic milestone for IPSA, with over 3,500 pre-registered participants, the highest in IPSA's 76-year history. Jointly organized with the Korean Political Science Association and the broader social science communities of Asia, the Congress promises to be IPSA's largest and most diverse global gathering to date.

The IPSA family is deeply saddened by the passing of Past President Leonardo Morlino, who died on 17 June 2025 at the age of 77. On behalf of IPSA and the global political science community, our heartfelt condolences go out to his family and loved ones. Leonardo Morlino was a prominent Italian political scientist specialized in comparative politics. A special roundtable will be held on 13 July at the 2025 World Congress in Seoul in memory of Prof. Morlino, to honor his scholarly legacy and reflect on the enduring relevance of his work on comparative politics, democratization, and political regimes.
GUIDELINES ON ACADEMIC FREEDOM PROTECTION PROCEDURES
IPSA is pleased to release its Guidelines on Academic Freedom Protection Procedures to assist its national and regional political science associations (collective members) in developing effective protocols to address threats to academic freedom.
IPSA PRESENT AT THE 2025 APSA ANNUAL MEETING IN VANCOUVER
The American Political Science Association's (APSA) 121st Annual Meeting will take place in Vancouver, Canada, from 11 to 14 September 2025, under the theme Reimagining Politics, Power, and Peoplehood in Crisis Times. IPSA's President-Elect, Yuko Kasuya, Executive Director Kim Fontaine-Skronski, and several Executive Committee members will attend to participate in academic sessions and hold official meetings.

IPSA is pleased to announce a new release in the IPSAMOOC series: Contemporary Issues in World Politics, taught by İlter Turan, IPSA Past President, and Mehmet Ali Tuğtan, Assistant Professor at Istanbul Bilgi University. Previously offered on the edX platform, the course has been updated and is now also available on Coursera, the biggest MOOC platform, with 175 million registered learners in 2025.
