IPSA invites you to participate in IPSA’s 2026 Work-in-Progress Sessions (WiPS). IPSA-WiPS will be held online from 13–19 July 2026 and is a series of interactive workshops where individual IPSA members can present and engage in in-depth discussions about their ongoing research with colleagues who share similar interests and topics. This initiative represents a unique opportunity to advance scholarly dialogue and foster collaborative research within the global political science community. By participating, you will not only contribute to the development of cutting-edge ideas but also help create an environment where rigorous academic exchange thrives.

IPSA-WiPS is a collection of online research workshops on a focused topic (called unit), each of which involves between 6 and 12 paper presentations (1 hour each). Each unit may select their preferred dates (3) and time block (4 hours) which best fits their needs.

IPSA-WiPS emphasizes on “work in progress” papers, so completed research is not a requirement. This format provides a good opportunity for paper authors to receive specific and substantial feedback that is often lacking in other conference settings. The titles and content of the Units will be curated by IPSA Research Committees and Collective Member associations.

Call for Unit Proposals | 3 February - 3 March 2026

Research Committees (RCs) and Collective Members are invited to organize units on focused topics. Two or more RCs and/or Collective Members may also submit a joint unit proposal. Participation is limited to paper presenters and chairs; public attendees will not have access to the sessions. This structure is designed to encourage in-depth discussions of each paper.

The unit (focused topic) proposal must be in English and should include:

1. Unit title  
2. Description of the unit (theme/topic)
3. Two convenors (1 required)
4. RCs and/or PSAs submitting the topic
5. Preferred dates (3) of the unit workshops
6. Preferred time block (1) of the unit workshops
